So how amazing is Marvel? Well for starters it has the highest profiting franchise in history with the Iron Man series. And the Captain America series is soon to eclipse Iron Man as the highest grossing movie series (with good reason, everyone knows Cap can beat Iron Man any day) and along with The Avengers it is hard to imagine anyone overtaking them in this lifetime.

But if Disney (which owns the Star Wars franchise) has anything to say about that then Marvel might reign for long, although Disney owns the rights to Marvel movies too, so either way they win. But that won’t stop Star Wars and their resurgence as the King of science fiction. J.J. Abrams has just announced the cast of Star Wars episode seven and so far it’s every nerd’s fantasy come true. Amazing new actors: Oscar Isaac, check. Amazing original cast: a resounding check. Amazing director who won’t Jar-Jar jinx us: J.J. Abrams, check (and thank you).

On its way to being the greatest Star Wars movie ever: check. On its way to being the greatest movie ever: a big hell yeah.

Whether you like Disney for Marvel or Star Wars, or like them for those silly cartoon movies, one thing is certain, they are doing it right. And no one currently seems to have the steam or courage to compete against them. Either way 2015 is going to be one of the greatest years in movies for geeky nerds.
