SMSU Golf honor Dr. Thomas’ son
The SMSU golf team is participating in the Folds of Honor Program Military Tribute Program this year. The program allows college athletes to honor fallen or severely injured members of the US military.
“By putting an actual soldier’s name on the golf bag and learning about that soldier’s story, it puts things in perspective and hits home as we are honoring a soldier from the SMSU community,” head coach Ross Webskowski said.
This year, the Mustangs will honor Sergeant Adam S. Thomas. Sgt. Thomas was killed in action on October 4, 2016 by an IED during dismounted actions in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. He was the son of Dr. Will and Candace Thomas. Dr. Will Thomas is a professor of accounting at SMSU.
Sophomore Hallie Will carried the bag at the Ramada Mustang Invite and freshmen Anneke Weg carried the bag at the Augustana Invite.
