NFL round up: week three in review
Week 3 was the most action packed yet. Filled with huge upsets, great comebacks, and high scoring games.
But before the games, many of the players knelt, or linked arms in response to President Trump’s statement regarding NFL players protesting the anthem. The Steelers even went as far as to not come out of the locker room for the National Anthem.
The week kicked off with the San Francisco 49ers and the L.A. Rams putting up 80 points combined. The L.A. Rams seemed to have the game in hand, but the 49ers mounted a comeback, falling just 2 points short.
The next great game was the Houston Texans and New England Patriots trading blows in a high scoring shootout. The Texans had a five-point lead with just under two minutes left in the game when Tom Brady mounted one of his famous game winning drives to take the lead with just over 20 seconds left.
The Minnesota Vikings came to play as they absolutely trounced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Case Keenum, filling in for an injured Sam Bradford, threw for over 350 yards and 3 touchdowns, while the defense intercepted Jamis Winston three times.
The Green Bay Packers came out to a very sluggish start against a desperate 0-2 Bengals team, falling behind 21-7 at half time. Then, Aaron Rodgers showed why he is arguably the best Quarterback in the league by throwing two second-half touchdowns. With some great defensive play, the Packers forced overtime where Rodgers threw a beautiful 62 yard bomb to Geronimo Allison who was streaking down the sideline to set up the game winning kick.
The once dominate Seattle Seahawks looked awful as the Tennessee Titans scored seemingly at will. Richard Sherman and Taylor Lewan got into a heated argument which cleared both benches as a mob ensued on the Titan’s sideline.
Larry Fitzgerald had a monster game for the Arizona Cardinals, including a catch for the ages, but it was not enough as the Dallas Cowboy’s offense seemed to wake up for the first time this season in the second half of the Monday night game and pulled away late.
It was a great weekend of football and hopefully the following weeks are just as action packed.
