MN Twins Spring Training 2016

March is a month of sports–there is no way around it. High school state tournaments in hockey, basketball, and wrestling are crowning champions, and the NCAA basketball tournament, also known as March Madness, gets started up, but don’t forget about spring training for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams.

With summer right around the corner, MLB teams are gearing up for the new season with high hopes. Last year doesn’t matter, as all teams have a clean slate, and the Twins are taking that to heart.

After a disappointing 2015 campaign, the Minnesota Twins head into spring training looking to get back to their winning ways. Many familiar names are returning such as Trevor Plouffe, Joe Mauer, and Brian Dozier, but spring training is about finding new talent.

Two new players that the Twins have high hopes for are Trevor May, a right handed pitcher, and Byung Ho Park, who has shown he can hit the long ball with three home runs already through the young spring training season.

The Twin are 6-6 through 12 games this preseason, coming off of a 14-5 rout of the Baltimore Orioles. It will be interesting to see if the young players can step up this season as they have in the preseason, to help the Twins capture the central division crown.
