New Cheer Coach

SMSU graduate Britta Monger begins her first year as head cheer coach this fall. Monger graduated last May with a major in elementary education and a minor in English as a second language.

When Monger learned she would be teaching in town, she decided to accept the coaching position. Not only does Monger think the job is a great opportunity, but she looks forward to sharing her love of cheerleading with the team.

Monger has six years of cheerleading experience. She spent all four years of high school and her freshman and sophomore years of college practicing the sport.

This year, Monger hopes to grow the cheer program.

“I want to build up a team of athletes who are excited to be part of the team and will return to the team next year,” Monger said.

Monger and her team are present at all home football and basketball games. Although the team is currently comprised of just seven lades, Monger hopes to grow the team for the basketball season this winter.
