If you followed the Sochi Winter Olympics then you may have noticed it resembled some of your favorite soap operas. With everything from broken lights at the opening ceremonies to unfinished hotels, here are the top ten interesting things you may have missed:
1. It was the biggest Olympics to date, with over 98 events in over 15 sports.
2. The Olympic torch reached space.
3. A few showers had live wires connected to the shower handles.
4. America won the first ever downhill slope (in snowboard) for both men and women.
5. Putin cuddled several people.
6. Numerous athletes failed drug screenings.
7. The United States got 4th in total medal count, the lowest rank in four Winter Olympics.
8. There was a large amount of controversy with the figure skating events, many believing that Russias’s was being extremely biased.
9. The United States beat Russia in hockey again, and then lost to Canada in hockey—again.
10. At the opening ceremony there was a major malfunction, where a light in the shape of a giant snowflake broke.
