The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team opened their 2013 fall season will a fifth place finish at the 10-team Cobbler Open at Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
As a team, the Mustangs finished with a score of 325. Junior Abby Gruber paced the Mustangs with ninth-place finish out of a total of 80 golfers. Gruber scored a career-best 5-over-par 77.
Gruber was followed by Rachel Patnoe and Dana Wagner, each scoring 82 and tying for 10th. Becky Koepp tied for 39th place with an 84. Marissa Campeau recorded an 88 to tie for 49th. Trisha Kienitz played as an individuals, scoring a 66 and tying for 49th place. Megan Will tied for 62nd place with a round of 92.
Winning the event was North Dakota State University with a team score of 292.
