The Southwest Minnesota State University Mustang golf team shot a team score of 344 during the final round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship. This would be good enough to earn the Mustangs a seventh place finish out of the 13-team field. The Mustangs finished the tournament with a score of 283-over-par 1,435.
The Augustana Vikings claimed the tournament title, scoring a 127-over-par 313. Augustana’s Allie Ostrander won the individual title, scoring a 25-over-par 313.
The NSIC Championship was held at two different locations. The first two round were held at The Classic at Madden’s in Brainerd, Minn.,last October. The final two rounds, held April 20 and 21, were played at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex (Posse Course) in Smithvolle, Mo.
Krista Weiszhaar led the Mustangs with a score of 86 on Saturday, April 20. Weiszhaar was the Mustangs’ highest finished overall, tying for 20th place with a 64-over-par 352. Weiszhaar shot 91, 92, 83, and 86 during the four days of the tournament. Rachel Patnoe followed Weiszhaar with an 89 on Sunday, April 21, and finished in 24th place with a 72-over-par 360. Patnoe shot 90,91, 90, and 89 throughout the tournament.
Marissa Campeau shot the Mustangs’ second-lowest round on Sunday, April 20, recording an 85, leading her to a 31st place finish with a 79-over-par 367. Campeau shot 103, 92, 87, and 85 throughout the tournament.
Abby Gruber shot the lowest round for the Mustangs, recording an 84. Gruber finished the final two rounds with a 179. Haley Gudim finished the tournament out with a 92 on Sunday and a total score of 189. Gruber and Gudim did not play the first two rounds in October.
