The Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs wrestling team fell 24-12 to the University of Mary Marauders on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.

The Mustangs fell into a deficit early in the match, but a pin at 133 pounds by junior Justin Reinsma saved them from an early blowout. However, the Mustangs could not overcome four consecutive decisions by the Marauders.

Mustang wrestlers Ethan Hildebrandt, Beau Buysse, Codie Lane, Jacob Begin, Travis Peralta, and Blaine Miller all lost due to UM decisions. A 12-match winning streak by Begin was halted after Begin’s loss to UM’s Brock Krumm. This marks Begin’s second loss of the season.

SMSU’s Jon Gorter ended the match with his first career win as a Mustang.

With the loss, the Mustangs fall to a record of 11-6 overall and 1-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
