The Southwest Minnesota State University Mustang cross country teams participated in the Martin Luther College Invitational in New Ulm, Minn. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2012. At the meet, the women’s team placed sixth overall. The men’s team, who did not figure into the team scoring, was paced by Alex Solheim, who placed 10th overall with a time of 30:10.
Following Solheim were Demond Carter (30:57), who finished in 20th place; Andrew Feucht (32:03), who finished in 30th place; and Jason Bentley (32:48), who finished in 42nd place.
SMSU’s AnnMarie Dykstra (27:17) and Diana Moe (27:18) lead the women’s team, finishing 21st and 22nd, respectively. Also finishing for the Mustang women were Kaelyn Turner (30:08), Karli Tholen (30:38), and Lisa Schroeder (34:32).
North Central University won the women’s event with a team score of 36 places, while SMSU finished in sixth place with a total of 150 places.
The University of Minnesota- Morris claimed the men’s title, scoring 38 places. SMSU did not figure into the team placing.
