The Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs men’s and women’s cross country teams made their debut Friday night at the South Dakota State Classic in Brookings, SD.
The Mustang women’s team snagged a seventh place finish at the meet. They were paced by Tatum Larsen, who finished in 78th place with a time of 23:16. Close behind Larsen were Diana Moe (23:56), Karli Tholen (24:58), Amanda Estes (25:44), Kaelyn Turner (25:46), Emily Hartwig (27:05), and Melissa Peterson (27:23).
The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers won the women’s side of the meet with a total of 15 points. SMSU finished with 235 points.
The SMSU men finished the meet earning an eighth place finish. They were led by Jack Durham, who finished 56th with a time of 29:42. Durham was followed by teammates Kevin Leiferman (61st place with a time of 30:45), Alex Solheim (63rd place with a time of 30:59), Andrew Feucht (64th place with a time of 33:00), Demond Carter (65th place with a time of 33:07), and Jason Bentley (69th place with a time of 34:48).
The South Dakota State University Jackrabbits won the men’s side of the meet with a total of 25 points. SMSU finished with 213 points.
