The Southwest Minnesota State University softball team picked up two victories against St. Cloud State University on April 11. The Mustangs won 4-3 in the first game and 5-4 in game two.
The Mustangs started game one off with Christine Borowiak scoring on a single by Kris Penick in the bottom of the first inning. That lead was extended to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning when they drove in two runs, scoring Kristine Kalkman and Sam Goblirsch.
The Huskies scored their first run in the top of the fourth inning on a throwing error by the Mustangs.
SMSU put more distance between them and the Huskies after Chelsey Evans scored in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Huskies bounced back with a run of their own in the top of the sixth inning to decrease SMSU’s lead to 4-3.
