Students aren’t drinking alcohol at Hawaiian Night
Feb. 3 saw Hawaiian Night arrive at SMSU once again.
The traditional night showcased men’s and women’s basketball games. Students typically attend games dressed in Hawaiian or tropical attire. It’s also a tradition that many students drink on the day to have a better time at the games. To most people, this may mean that students are drinking alcoholic beverages. That is not the case.
We at SMSU pride ourselves with being good role models to others in the community, both on and off campus. Students do drink on Hawaiian Night, but they drink excessive water to make sure that they’re well hydrated for the games and the parties that they attend after the games.
Please make sure to drink water responsibly. Drinking too much water too quickly can show similar symptoms of intoxication.
