Endorsement: Connie Gores for president
With only five days left until the 45th president of the United States is elected, the 2016 election is heating up. The race is quite close with three major candidates: Senator Hillary Clinton, businessman Donald Trump, and SMSU’s very own Connie Gores.
The SMSU Spur is proud to announce its endorsement of the only logical choice: Connie Gores.
Gores has the most experience for the job. After all, she has been a president since the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year. No other candidate can boast that kind of experience.
With her passionate leadership, Gores is known to deeply inspire supporters at her many rallies, from the recent welcome of incoming freshman, to her speeches at scholarship recognition luncheons and graduations. All these political rallies have her polling at the number one candidate in the college student’s demographic.
Gores has had a very effective use of social media during her campaign. While her 1,558 Twitter followers may seem like few compared to Trump’s 12.8 million or Clinton’s 10.1 million, Gores has been much more interactive with her followers, often replying to them and tagging them in posts. Political analysts have been very impressed by this tactic, which they have deemed quite successful.
Last week’s local debates, where Gores went up against Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, was unquestionably won by Gores. When the candidates were asked what they would do for Marshall, Minnesota, Johnson’s reply of stirred no support.
“Wait, wait, wait, this isn’t Texas?” a visibly confused Johnson asked. “I must have gone to the wrong Marshall. So, we’re in Minnesota? Do you guys know if there’s an Aleppo somewhere nearby? Aleppo, Minnesota? That’s one of the small towns around here, right?”
Gores had a simple reply:
“I drive a really cool Mustang,” Gores said to thunderous applause from the crowd.
Gores’ SMSU themed sports car is a stark contrast to the not so cool scandals Clinton and Trump find themselves in. Gores still has every email since 2002, while Clinton is once again being investigated by the FBI for violating procedure and possibly US law with her private email server. In contrast to Trump, Gores has never been recorded saying awful things about women, and has never lost millions of dollars in an investment to sell steaks with her name on them, bankrupting dozens of suppliers. She beats out every other candidate for president, whether from the major or third parties.
Going along with her policy of being very responsive to Twitter, Gores took some time out of her day to reply to a request for an interview about her campaign to become president of the United States.
“Look, I don’t know how else I can put this,” Gores said. “I’m president of a university, not the country. I am not currently and do not plan to run for president of the nation. I really appreciate you trying to endorse me, but please don’t run that article, because none of that is true. Alright, well thanks for stopping by, Cole, but I really have to get back to work. Take some candy on the way out, alright?”
