Hawaiian Night Recruiting

Hawaiian Night is one of the most highly anticipated nights of the year here at SMSU. It gives the students a chance to show off their school spirit and blow off steam as the basketball game usually records its highest number for attendance for the whole season.

There is more that goes into Hawaiian Night, however. Most students don’t realize it, but this is the biggest weekend for high school students to tour the campus.

Erin Bones, an ambassador at SMSU, said there are many students who take the tour.

“Hawaiian night shows the amount of school spirit students have,” Bones said.

The tours are given the same way they would be on any other day.

“We show them the dorms, RA facility, Student Center, labs, the library, and the Schwan’s Regional Event Center,” Bones said.

Though the tours are the same, the students touring on Hawaiian Night see how energetic the campus is and it rubs off on them. They leave after the tours, or the game if they decide to stay, and remember the atmosphere of the school.

Besides seeing just a few of the many highlights of the people and campus, students touring SMSU on Hawaiian night see how much fun students can have at SMSU.

This year should be no different. With Hawaiian Night coming up, expect to see many future Mustangs checking out campus.

“It’s such an energetic day for everyone, so it gives students a great insight to our school,” Bones said.
