Mumford & Sons released their new album “Babel” last month. Having never been exposed to their music before, I was a bit skeptical of the group simply by their name. A fairly new group to the world of music, Mumford & Sons released their debut album “Sigh No More” in 2009.
I have been missing out.
The voice harmony of this group is simply eargasmic. Religious overtones are evident in their music, but it is tasteful instead of overbearing.
If the lyrics of “I Will Wait” and “Babel” do not get to you, then their incredible use of the banjo in those songs will. I’ve heard several groups use a banjo in their performances, but no other group I have ever listened to has displayed such mastery of the instrument.
If you’re in the mood for some good British indie folk/rock music, then I’d highly recommend listening to Mumford & Sons’ new album “Babel.” They are a solid seven on a scale of one to ten. Ten, of course, being completely awesome.
