Class of 2021 arrive on campus during Admitted Student Day

On Feb. 10, prospective freshmen were invited to SMSU’s Admitted Student Day. Activities included meeting SMSU administrators, faculty and staff—learning about life on campus.

Admitted Student Day is an opportunity for students who want to know more about SMSU before deciding whether or not to attend.

“Today is about you,” Director of Admissions Matt Suby said in a welcoming address.

President Connie J. Gores, Dean Raphael Onyeaghala, and Dean Jan Loft also attended the welcoming address.

“You’ve worked hard to get here,” Gores said.

Brett Gaul, a philosophy professor and Honors Program Director, and Michele Sterner, Access Opportunity Success Associate Director, spoke on what their programs offer SMSU students.

Another opportunity that Admitted Student Day offered is for the class of 2021 to get to know one another. Students were organized into groups to meet each other and play ice-breakers.

Students who could not make it to Admitted Student Day were encouraged to visit campus.
