GoinGlobal helps international students find jobs abroad
After a year of absence, GoinGlobal, a resource for international students and prospective international students, has returned to SMSU.
International students are those who are not from the United States and are at school, or students who are from any other nation and will be travelling to another nation for school.
“There are at least 40 different countries represented here,” Director of Career Services Melissa Scholten said.
GoinGlobal is a utility that students can use to grasp an idea of what the area is like for where they will be going to school, as long as it is one of the 40 countries provided on the webpage.
“It gives you all these different categories,” Scholten said. “From finding a job, to hiring opportunities, to getting a job, to networking, living there, and personal resources. It’s specific in the sense of ‘What kind of Visa am I going to need?’”
Students who are looking for jobs in other countries may find this source extremely useful. Since each country has a different culture, there can be different things that will be wanted on a resume. The questions that are asked in interviews could be ones that employers cannot ask in the United States, or there could be questions that employers can ask in the United States, but can’t ask in that country.
“There’s a lot of really fantastic stuff in here for students to use,” Scholten said. “It’s one of the best employer [resources] I’ve seen.”
Access to GoinGlobal is completely free for students and alumni. It is linked to Mustang Jobs, but an account is not required. Everything can be found online on the Career Services page. Simply click on the GoinGlobal logo, and students will be directed to the site. Any questions or comments are welcomed by Scholten.
