As the 2013-14 school year wraps up, SMSU introduces Finish Strong Week, which takes place April 27 – May 4. The weeklong program will consist of various activities to guide students through their last week of school before finals and encourage them to finish strong.
“The week would not only consist of activities and events to help students prepare for finals, but also give students the opportunity to have some fun, relieve some stress, and let them know how much they mean to our Mustang family,” said Brittany Krull, Assistant Director of Student Success.
The idea for Finish Strong Week was brought to Dean of Students Scott Crowell, and with the help of numerous departments, plans started to come about.
“As always, the Office of Student Success is continually thinking of ways to help aid in the overall success of our students, and simply felt a program such as this was needed,” said Krull.
Events earlier in the week included a showing of The Lego Movie in the Lower CC on April 27, pet therapy form Paws for Learning and relaxation massages on April 28, and Zumba or Core Cardio classes and comedian Eric O’Shea on April 29.
Activities for Finish Strong week were chosen based on what students would have fun participating in, what programs were already taking place that could be collaborated on and promoted further, and activities that are low cost, stress relieving, and beneficial for finals week.
“Our goal is to make Finish Strong Week a new tradition at SMSU that is held every spring semester,” said Krull.
