C8-H10-N4-O2, an addictive psychoactive stimulant has recently been found all over not only the city of Marshall, but the State of Minnesota and even the country. Vast amounts of kids, teenagers and adults alike are trying or regularly taking the drug. It is gaining quite a bit of traction and popularity at SMSU.
Out of a recent survey of students, almost every person surveyed said they had tried the drug at least once. Many students cited it as being a joyful experience, and that it helped them concentrate and stay alert, almost like Adderall.
Alertness is about where C8-H10-N4-O2’s benefits end. The drug is a confirmed diuretic, meaning it drastically increases the taker’s need to pee. It is also proven to disrupt sleep patterns, which many SMSU students admitted they had experienced first-hand. In large dozes, which is easy to take being the drug is addictive, C8-H10-N4-O2’s effects get worse.
Shaking, nervousness, anxiety, irritability, loss of attention span and other symptoms were all reported by users. C8-H10-N4-O2 also has a possible link to the chance of miscarriage. An overdose can cause psychosis and even death.
What could be worse than this drug being available and widely used on campus? Recent investigations show it may be in food, including lots of foods that are sold in SMSU’s very food court, possibly including coffee and chocolate. An addictive drug with vast negative effects is in our food, right here in Marshall.
With wide and open use, it seems like the combined efforts of campus security and the Marshall Police department could keep the distribution of this drug under control. However, it isn’t illegal. Neither the National Institute on Drug Abuse nor the Center for Disease control classify C8-H10-N4-O2 as anything remotely harmful or against the law.
With such dangers from C8-H10-N4-O2, and it being so widely distributed, it would be good to learn to avoid it to protect yourself. The drug is rarely dealed, but it’s occasionally offered in the form of food or drink. Rumor has it the name on the street for the drug is “Caffeine.” If you are ever offered caffeine, remember that you are actually being offered C8-H10-N4-O2. Just say no!
