The University Food Service Advisory Committee (UFSAC) meets twice a month with one goal in mind: to assess what they can do to better serve those using the Residential Restaurant, Mustang Express, The Coffee House, and the Food Court.
Around 30 people serve on this committee, designed to enhance the dining experience based on student’s ideas. UFSAC’s mission is to build relationships between Food Services and those who use the dining areas.
The meeting on Feb. 12 mainly discussed the retail portion of Food Services. Students at this meeting agreed that the hours of operation of the dining areas do not meet the needs of students on the weekends. Discussed was the possibility of having the Food Court and The Coffee House open earlier on weekends.
It was also discussed that more options need to be available on weekends, and the possibility of a greater selection and options at the Mustang Express. Those at the meeting also talked about meeting a good price point, more healthy options, and a non-campus meal plan for commuters.
Taking these ideas into consideration, Food Services is currently working on having more available options, enhancing quality of food options and working with the staff for longer hours for retail services on the evenings and weekends. These options will be implemented after Spring Break.
Focus groups will be held on Feb. 25, 26 & 27 for students both on campus and off. The focus hour sessions are Tue. Feb. 25 from 12-1 p.m. and Wed. Feb. 26 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for resident students. The off-campus session it is Thursday, Feb. 27 from 12-1 p.m.
UFSAC meets every other Wednesday in SC 249 at noon.
