Despite the slew of terrible weather patterns we’ve had throughout the month of April, there were a number of volunteers on hand to help and donate at Southwest Minnesota State University’s biannual blood drive.
The drive was held in the lower level Conference Center on Wednesday, Apr. 11 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Though there are designated sign-up times, walk-ins were welcome to donate too.
Hosted by the Student Association, there were around ten volunteers that helped with the set-up and organization of the event, along with Red Cross.
“We make everything happen; we receive different donations of food items for the canteen by different businesses around town. We are the only organization on campus that is involved with this. We also provide lunches for the Red Cross workers through ARAMARK,” Hilary Adkins, public relations coordinator for the SMSU Student Association, said.
Though the number of donations was lower than usual, there were over 100 pints of blood donated at the drive.
