CRU holds first Swing Dancing Event

CRU held swing dancing last Monday to teach students some new moves. Swing dancing is a fast-paced and fun way to meet people. With good teachers and willing students everyone picked up the movements quickly. Movements named after food and a variety of objects, such as, the Ravioli and the more daring ones like Backpack a wide array of options unfolded before participants.

Teachers began with the basics like how to hold your partner and rule number one don’t drop your partner. Students later found themselves spinning, falling, and dipping as the night got later.

Students were able to express themselves through dance on Monday. Aerial tricks like the Backpack or a Basic Vault many found looked scary, but just  required a lot of trust in students’ partners.

For students looking to join in on the dancing but don’t like Swing, please note that line dances like the Cha-Cha Slide, Electric Slide and the Git Up are also taught at these events.

Students were able to get their heads out of the books and take their stress to the dance floor. This event is held once every month, usually on Mondays.
