Young Frankenstein

With the rehearsal process started, the cast and crew of Young Frankenstein are very excited for the performance of the play at the end of the month. Young Frankenstein premieres on October 24, with other performances on October 25-27, November 1-3, and a matinee on November 4. Freshman Allie Lamote from Marshall, MN plays the character Inga. Through watching rehearsals, I’ve seen her develop her character, and I’ve watched her struggle.

I asked Allie what drew her to be involved with Young Frankenstein.

“I fell in love with musical theatre when I was really little and just couldn’t stay away from my true passion,” Allie said.

Her calling has brought her here to Southwest Minnesota State University to perform. You may remember her from 2017’s Spring production of Into The Woods as Rapunzel. I asked Allie what her favorite part of the rehearsal process for Young Frankenstein has been.

“My favorite part has been hanging with the amazing cast,” Allie said.

While watching the cast rehearse, one can see the bonds that have formed already in the rehearsal process. Through the process, there have been some struggles with the show, and Allie is no stranger to those struggles. I asked her what she is having trouble with the most, to which she said, “Yodeling in ‘Roll in The Hay’.”

After much practice, Allie has improved her yodeling game. With the performance at the end of the month, I asked her what was most excited for.

“I am really excited to play with my character and just really own being Inga,” she said.

With that, the cast and crew of hope you make your way to the Fine Arts Theatre to watch Young Frankenstein.
