Last month’s lineup for free games was a force to be reckoned from both Playstation Plus and Xbox One. Releasing such titles as Batman TellTale Series and Deux Ex: Mankind Divided for the PS4, and The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III and Zombi for the Xbox One. This month is looking to be even better.

For the PS4, there are moderately decent games such as Knack and Rime. Knack is a platforming beat’em up third-person style game with stunning visuals. The plot of Knack is that mankind is being attacked by goblins, and Knack is a relic destined to save the human race. The game is filled with puzzles, fun level boosters, and battles, among battles, among battles.

Rime is a third-person adventure puzzle game with a new style of artwork and a beautiful soundtrack to match it. The game begins with a boy on an island after witnessing his father falling overboard during a storm. Throughout the game, you explore and solve puzzles to find your missing father, but what makes this game interesting is the theme behind the stages. There are only five stages in Rime, but that should not put you off from playing the game. Each level represents one of the five stages of grief; the grief that the boy is feeling for the loss of his father. That, coupled with the soundtrack, creates a lot of emotion as the boy looks for his father on the island.

The Xbox One’s February line-up includes Shadow Warrior and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India. Shadow Warrior originally released in 1997 for the Microsoft Computer has now recieved a new paint job and is back with new graphics but with the same feeling from 1997. It’s a first-person game that brings you back into the shoes of Lo Wang, who adventures through the world defeating demons and collecting the pieces of an almighty sword. Shadow Warrior is not heavily story driven, as it puts little emphasis on its characters, but that means there is more time to mutilate demons and save the world. With its new look and same old feel, Shadow Warrior is just as good today as it was in 1997.

Assassins Creed Chronicles: India is a beautiful third-person 2D platformer that still feels like an Assassins Creed game. Arbaaz is the great assassin in this game, and he has all the same charm as previous assassins. What brings this game together is everything from the artwork of the world to the streets and open areas with elephants. To let this game pass under the radar would be a bummer.

This is the line-up for February 2018 and honestly, I can not wait until next month so that we can get more of these awesome picks. Although there are a lot of good things going on, there is a sense there is something better for gamers out there.
