Student art fills the Whipple Gallery as part of the Senior Graduation Exhibition. A range of art forms are displayed, including photography, painting, and graphic design. The exhibit runs from April 17 – May 8.
On display are seniors Kiley Beste, Amara Eagan, Lakshmi Kasichainula, NaLee Lor, Kayla Schuette, Parker Strom, and Michael Vogel.
Beste has been interested in art since childhood and has been involved with it for most of her life.
“I took various art classes at a community center and did all kinds of artwork and projects in my free time growing up,” said Beste. “So it was a natural choice to incorporate my artistic talent into my major and as a career.”
“They have all worked hard to put their portfolios together and make this presentation,” said Alma Hale, Art Program Coordinator.
Taking part in the exhibit is a capstone requirement for Graphic Design and Studio Art majors. Graphic Design students put together a compilation of their work along with their resume, mission statement, portfolio, business cards, and a self-promoting website.
“It gives the students a chance to show their accomplishments publicly, and gives them the experience of participating in and helping to set up a gallery show,” said Hale.
A reception for the Senior Art Exhibit will take place in the Whipple Gallery on May 3 from 3 – 5 p.m where the public can meet the artists and see their accomplishments.
