Do you like alternative rock? Then give “Band of Skulls” a try.
Hailing from Southampton, England, Band of Skulls’ were originally called “Fleeing New York.” Fleeing New York formed in 2004, changed their name in 2008, and is still going strong today.
The band consists of Russell Marsden as guitar and vocals, Emma Richardson as bass and vocals and Matt Hayward on drums. Marsden and Hayward were friends since high school. They met Richardson in college and formed a band not long after.
Band of Skulls’ song “I Know What I Am” was featured in the soundtrack for the TV series “Friday Night Lights, Volume 2” and also appeared in the game “Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.” In Mar. 2010 the band made an appearance of the French TV show “Taratata” where they covered The Rolling Stones song “Sympathy for the Devil.”
If you’re looking for an alternate rock concert to go to this summer, you’re in luck. Tickets went on sale Feb. 21 for Band of Skulls’ tour of North America. They will be performing in Minneapolis, Minn. on Jun. 3.
