The Southwest Minnesota Orchestra Children’s Concert is coming up.
Next Tuesday, March 4, marks the date for this year’s concert. There will be two concerts, one at 10 a.m. followed by one at 1 p.m. This annual concert will be held at the Schwan’s Community Center for Performing Arts at Marshall High School. Children in 2nd to 5th grade are welcome to attend the concert, which will feature music from recent superhero films.
Dr. Daniel Rieppel is the director of the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra.
“This concert is really a good way for children to become familiar with the various instruments in the orchestra,” said Rieppel. “It’s good outreach for us, because the children will be choosing their instruments in the next couple of years.”
Before the concert, kids will have the opportunity to inspect the instruments up close. A member of the orchestra will be there as well to address any questions the children may have.
Tickets may be purchased by contacting Kristin Gruhot at 507-530-2555. The price of tickets is $1 for children and accompanying adults, or $12 for adults that attend without children. Tickets for the 10 a.m. performance are sold out.
