Music filled the Southwest Minnesota State University Theater Tuesday night as the SMSU and Community concert band performed Dec. 10.
The band, conducted by Dr. John Ginocchio, sounded amazing as they played an arsenal of music that “explored the relationships between music and the other arts.”
El Bolero de Carmelo composed by Ferrer Ferran softly started the evening, only to be loud and vibrant by the end of the song.
Other composers like Norman Dello Joio, Danny Elfman, Michael Colgrass and Bert Appermont’s music was performed.
The night was wrapped up by Andrew Boysen’s Star-Crossed. This wonderful conclusion told the story of The Maverick (a super villain), and the super hero called Red Rhapsody.
SMSU/Community Concert Band is open to all SMSU students and community members. The Concert Band meets Thursday nights from 7-9:20 p.m.
