Thor: The Dark World, or as some call it, Loki: the prequel, came out on November 8th. It was an exciting movie with some good laughs, exactly what you would expect from a current Marvel movie. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor, along with rest of the cast from the first movie, most notably Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin and of course Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
Like most movies Thor: The Dark World has its ups and its downs. If you’re a kid or preteen, this movie should be able to keep your attention despite the problems with it such as questionable acting and aggressive story progression.
Daiylan Timm, sophomore, thought Chris Hemworth’s performance was,“Funomoinal,” saying “The acting of Chris as Thor portrayed a character that was less overly confident and more down to earth and hesitant and cautious. In the first movie he seemed to think of himself as unstoppable, but in Thor 2, he seems to have gone through some character development.”
For some, the casting of Chris Hemworth has turned around. What was bad acting has now turned into a more appropriate portrayal of the character Thor. The supporting acting was still lacking strongly within the cast of the Asgardians (the race that Thor belongs to) with at best the acting being silly and campy. But if you’re a father or mother looking for a good family movie to take your kids to in the next few weekends, Thor: The Dark World should be at the top of your list.
