Prepared to die from laughter? Time to join the adventures of the undead zombie named R in Warm Bodies. R is an unusual zombie who, while he cannot remember who he was, feels conflicted about chowing down on humans and their brains. He saves a human female named Julie from being attacked by his fellow undead. The two form a unique relationship never heard of before. In doing so, they set into a motion a chain of events that changes everything that both zombie and human had ever known.
Warm Bodies is currently rated 7.4 stars on www.imdb.com and is worth every star. This movie had excellently timed, tasteful sense of humor—a nice break from all the stupid humor movies like The Dictator and every one of the Hangover movies. The romantic aspects of this movie were noticeably there, but not gushing out in the typical near-Valentine’s-Day-movie fashion.
A movie this good cannot have just one person vocalizing well-deserved praise. In interviews with several Southwest Minnesota State University students, this is what some of the student body had to say about Warm Bodies:
“I loved the movie so much. So many feels. I got so worked up at so many parts that I almost died a little on the inside. 10/10 highly recommend,” praised freshman psychology major, Amanda Nelson.
“I thought it was pretty well done. Cute love story, a unique new take on zombies and the zombie movie in general, and strangely funny. Only had a few issues. Like if the zombies are curing themselves, what happens if they’ve rotted or are missing a bite out of their neck or something? Maybe the virus heals them somehow, I don’t know,” mused Daniel Kilkelly, a junior creative writing major.
“I adored the movie!” said Mae Flicek, an SMSU sophomore majoring in creative writing. “ I think what really reeled me in was the dialogue. It was witty and surprising—it wasn’t the typical dialogue one would expect with all of the terrible movies coming out. It was legitimately humorous and you were always rooting for the zombie lad to get the lass. At times, it was pretty emotional. Overall, a great film.”
