On Sunday, Feb. 3, the 47th annual Super Bowl aired. Or as I’ve been calling it, the closest I’ll ever get to a Beyonce concert.
Amidst all the controversy and lip-syncing accusations after the Presidential Inauguration, Beyonce still took the stage, and boy did she deliver. Her performance prompted praise from celebrities and fans alike.
“And Beyonce just made the rest of us singers look stupid! In the most awesome way possible! Way to work it! #BestEverHalftimeShow.” tweeted country crooner Carrie Underwood.
A tweet by ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress, Anna Kendrick followed shortly after said, “Beyonce = everything. I’m dying. I’ve died. I am dead. #IRegretNothing.”
In today’s entertainment industry, she is one of very few female artists capable of being sexy, powerful, and classy at the same time.
Beyonce arguably put on one of the best half time shows in years. She did so with an all-female band and all-female dancers, while singing about being an independent woman. This all took place in the middle of one of today’s most masculine environments.
The 32 year-old singer graced the stage and performed several of her hits including “Crazy in Love,” “Halo,” and “Single Ladies.” She briefly welcomed former Destiny’s Child group members, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, for their first performance in nearly 8 years.
She sang live, danced, and commanded the crowd. She put on such an incredible show that the rest of the game was no longer relevant; the stadium shut itself down after that performance.
Even if you’re not a Beyonce fan, you can’t deny that she is a remarkable entertainer. It doesn’t matter which team you were rooting for, I think it’s safe to say Beyonce won the Super Bowl.
