Schedule of Homecoming 2017: Forever Brown & Gold

Monday, September 25

The celebration started with a Founder’s Day University picture and cake at the Alumni Plaza. This was followed by lessons on playing Cricket and the Stampeded Feed provided by Chartwells.

Tuesday, September 26

On Tuesday, students were officially able to cast a vote for their favorite king and queen candidate. After they casted their votes, they attended the RHA Olympics and Candidate Night with Hypnotist Chris Jones.

Wednesday, September 27

Mustang’s Got Talent, the upgraded version of Mustang Karaoke, was on Wednesday. Talents varied from singing, to poetry reciting, to skits and beyond.

Thursday, September 28

Dorm and office spirit judging happened early Thursday morning. Before coronation at 7 p.m. in the lower conference center, the bookstore has their VIP night at 5 p.m. Following coronation there will be Take 2 Improv in the Black Box Theatre at 8:30 p.m.

Friday, September 29

The day to wear Brown and Gold spirit gear is Friday. There are multiple events happening, including a Mustang Mentorship Program Social at 10 a.m. in the Civic Engagement Office, an Alumni Awards Luncheon in the upper conference center at 12 p.m., and the University Gala in the RA Facility and the Volleyball game in the PE Gym are both occurring at 6 p.m., are just a few.

Saturday, September 30

Saturday is officially Homecoming Day, with almost twenty events happening. It begins with a Lions Club Pancake Feed at the Fire Hall from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., or you can participate in the 5K/10K in the SS parking lot. The parade starts at 11 a.m., followed by a Planetarium (SM 108) show and volleyball game at 2 p.m. Tailgating starts at 3 p.m. and goes until kickoff at 5 p.m.

Sunday, October 1

To end Homecoming week, there will be an Alumni Brunch at the Campus Restaurant at 10 a.m. Some last university tours will start at the Founder’ Hall at 10:30 a.m., and the official last event of Homecoming 2017 is the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra Concert at 2 p.m. at the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts.
