When Nintendo first mentioned re-releasing Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon fans were excited. Swimming in Lavaridge Town with old ladies in 3D! While fans had to get over the fact that the old ladies were no longer in the hot spring, Omega and Alpha did some pretty awesome things to the original Hoenn region.
First off, the land map. They were more complex than the original game, but still maintained a level that was rated for younger players. The Hoenn region gained several new spots to explore and how to explore them. For the gambler, I’m sorry to report, but the Game Corner has closed.
Older players found that raising Pokémon was easier than the original version’s. They also got the chance to experience Mega Evolution for some of their favorite Hoenn region pals.
One of the major changes exclusive to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is the Sneak ability trainers have. When in tall grass, trainers can try to sneak through grass and encounter less Pokémon. However, sneaking around can make Pokémon with something special about them pop up. Older trainers have thought of this as a kind of “cheating.” Because why would someone go for the average Pokémon when they have the chance for a special one?
Overall, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are excellent reproductions of the originals. The Pokémon fan will be pleased.
