Considering the monetary costs of unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, rape and sexual assault as well as a number of ongoing battles when it comes to the topic of sex, we learn that ‘sex is powerful.’
In a presentation featuring Bob Hall, founder and owner of “Learning to Live With Conflict, Inc.”, students listened, conversed, and joined in on the demonstrations of Hall’s educational program in an effort to understand more about sex and conflict.
As part of the event, free tshirts were given out through a raffle drawing. The slogans for the tshirts included:
-”Just cause we’re dating, doesn’t mean we’re mating”
-”Sex may be a drive, doesn’t mean you have a license” – and more.
In the presentation, Hall expressed that the reason sex is so complicated is because it doesn’t mean the same thing for everyone.
With this misunderstanding of sex comes a sense of conflict.
Hall led a discussion on what sex can mean to others and how violence can be prevented if people stay knowledgeable about that. Another way Hall stated was to be aware that nonviolent conflict can help with growth.
“When it comes to sex, we aren’t all coming from the same place. Conflict happens because we are different and it can lead to real learning and growth,” Hall said.
