“Betrayed by his stepfather, the King, and exiled and sold into slavery because of a forbidden love, Hercules must use his formidable powers to fight his way back to his rightful kingdom,” summarized IMDb.com.
“Would you betray your King, as my king betrays me in his lust for you?” questioned Hera, Greek goddess.
This Hercules movie twisted story told in Greek mythology. Hera in the movie is more understanding and willing to let Zeus do what he wants.
In the movie, Hera grants Hercules’ mother a night with Zeus so she can give birth to a son, a savior. As she speaks using a vessel, Hera is clearly distraught about her proclamation. It appears to destroy her emotionally, but Hera knows Zeus will have his way regardless and thus gives the go ahead.
The movie declined from there.
Rotten Tomatoes, a website devoted to reviews and information about films, gave The Legend of Hercules a 3 out of 10 satisfactory rating, and an average rating of 2.3 out of 10. IMDb.com gave the movie a slightly higher rating of 4.4 out of 10.
“Cheap-looking, poorly acted, and dull, The Legend of Hercules is neither fun enough to qualify as an action movie nor absorbing enough to work on a dramatic level,” reviewed Rotten Tomatoes.
With ratings this low it’s no surprise why The Legend of Hercules never made it to local movie theater, Marshall 6.
If you’re looking for a good movie, perhaps you should skip The Legend of Hercules and go straight for The Lego Movie, which Rotten Tomatoes gives a good average rating of 8.2 out of 10.
