Imagine Monopoly. Now imagine downtown Marshall. A board game coming to life near you.
Hooguh, a gameification company dedicated to enhancing interaction with products and services, media and entertainment, the internet and more, currently has plans for a real-life Monopoly-inspired game for downtown Marshall.
Gaining permission from the city, Michael Clawson, event planner, worked to generate interest and contact businesses.
“Hoogopoly” will start March 16 from 3-7 p.m. This event will be held every second Sunday of the month at the same time.
According to Clawson, players can register at “GO” (Memorial Park) and play their way around the board (downtown Marshall).
“Any spot they land on will be sponsored by a different downtown business, and they will have the option to enter a digital drawing for a prize given away by that business,” Clawson said.
Watching a real-life dream potentially come true keeps Clawson eager and excited to see this project through.
“Monopoly has always been my favorite board game and it’s actually been a dream of mine to get a real life board set up somewhere in this town,” Clawson said.
Clawson hopes that this event will bridge the gap between SMSU and the downtwon Marshall area.
“At least for me, I thought Marshall ended after Super America my first two years in this town and there are some fantastic shops down here that the students should know about. There is more to this town than Walmart and Shopko,” Clawson said.
