With the conclusion of its first show of the year, the SMSU Theatre is moving on to its second production of the school year: “Dead Man’s Cell Phone”, written by Sarah Ruhl, a two-time Pulitzer finalist.
The show will be produced by Samuel French and directed by Jennifer Goff.
“Dead Man’s Cell Phone” is described as “an inventive, dark comedy,” with “a fresh and humorous look at the times we live in.”
The show features a woman named Jean, who is sitting in café when she hears the incessant ringing of a cell phone. To her shock, the man who owns the phone is dead. Jean takes the phone and begins to unfurl the understanding of this man as well as herself.
With a main cast of eight members and many more on the crew, the show is bound to be memorable as well as personable. Freshman Payton Shively, a Theater Arts major, will be playing the role of Jean.
Other cast members include Senior Tony Falk, a Speech Communication: Radio/TV major as Gordon, Senior Jessa Roberts, a Theater Arts major, as Mrs. Gottlieb, and more.
