The Southwest Minnesota State University Mustang men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the NCAA Central Region Championships on Saturday, November 9 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Trent Smith paced the men’s team with a 69th place finish, while Amanda Grengs led the way for the women’s team with a 122nd place finish. As a team, the men totaled a time of 2:58:21, which was good enough for 558 points. This helped them to a 20th place finish. The women finished with a time of 2:08:03 for 829 points, which put them in 29th place.
The University of Minnesota-Duluth claimed the women’s team title with a total score of 72 points. Jennifer Agnew of the University of Mary won the individual title with a time of 20:26.
On the men’s side, Augustana took the men’s team title with an overall score of 37 points. Paul Yak of Augustana clained the men’s individual title with a time of 31:13.
