Enjoy poetry? Enjoy coffee? Better yet, do you enjoy poetry while drinking coffee?
The Daily Grind will be hosting a local poetry slam on December 13th. Local returning talent includes Nick White and Dan Kilkelly. Slams hosted by The Daily Grind are open to anyone willing to participate and perform their original work.
What is a poetry slam? According to Wikipedia, “a poetry slam is a competition at which poets read or recite original work.” White and Kilkelly gave a little preview of what their pieces are going to be like.
“I’m writing one on the collapse of the human condition in regards to drinking,” said White. His piece was inspired by an experience he had when he was sober in a room full of intoxicated people.
“Something funny, awkward, and probably sexual,” said Kilkelly while pondering his next piece.
When asked for some final words about the “End of the World” poetry slam, White said, “I would like people to know that anyone can perform and you can’t find anything else like it in Marshall.”
