For those with doubts about the continuation of the famous Bond series, you can let that go because Skyfall has dominated countries worldwide with its fierce action and compelling storyline.
With Daniel Craig taking the helm of the Bond series back in 2006, many speculated whether the blond haired, blue-eyed man could take on the role. With James Bond being tall, dark and handsome with brown hair and dark eyes in every movie since its inception, it was a tough barrier to break. And break he did.
With the success both at the box office and with audiences worldwide, Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008) kept the series looking seemingly strong, until financial troubles hit MGM Pictures in 2010. The franchise was put on hold, until early 2011 when the third film had the green light for production. Filming began late in 2011, with the film to be released in late 2012.
This film was Skyfall, the 23rd film in the franchise, which was released around the 50 year celebration of the Bond franchise. Judi Dench, who makes her seventh appearance in the franchise as M, the leader of MI6, rises amazingly while her character becomes more at risk than ever before.
Javier Bardem arrives as the main antagonist, Raoul Silva, a former MI6 agent out for revenge. His performance gives viewers a reason to keep watching and keeps the storyline alive.
Other notable appearances include Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory, Naomie Harris as Eve (the last name being revealed at the end), Ben Whishaw as Q and Berenice Lim Marlohe as the ultimate James Bond girl, Severine.
Craig yet again dominated this role as his character sets out to find the person behind the terror attacks on the MI6 agency. His travels lead him to exotic places such as Shanghai and Macau. London serves as a main location for this film, though the climax ends at the titular location of Skyfall (its meaning revealed to viewers late in the film).
This movie will keep viewers watching with its abundance of action and its fresh storyline and characters. Its shocking end will have you reeling and wanting more as the credits roll.
For those of you who are reluctant about seeing this film, don’t be. It is truly the best James Bond movie by far.

Kim is a former member of the SMSU Spur. She was on staff for 4 years - she started in the 2010 Fall Semester. She is a double major - majoring in PWC (Professional Writing & Communications) and Literature. She graduated from Benson, Minn. High School in 2010 with honors.
Her hobbies include reading, writing, walking, internet browsing and hanging out with friends and family, of course. She is also involved in the SMSU Jazz Ensemble and SMSU Concert Band and has also performed in the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra. Her other clubs include the English Club and Perceptions (SMSU's literary magazine). She is also involved in the Oyate Club.
She loves big cities (mostly Minneapolis), libraries/book stores, camping (sometimes), swimming, listening to music and much more.
Her passion is to become a book publisher/editor. Other dreams include hiking the Triple Crown and seeing all of the U.K.
