Women on the Move (WOM) offers a place to gather and discuss relevant issues pertaining to the issues faced by women today. The organization provides resources and support for women of all cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. This is the second year WOM has an official place among the clubs and organizations of Southwest Minnesota State University.
“WOM is so new that we are open to suggestions as to what women would like to see the club become,” says WOM adviser Amy Nemitz.
On Oct. 9, 2012 WOM had their first meeting. At the meeting, a discussion of what events the organization could put on took place. Several ideas were thrown around the room such as guest speakers, group yoga, possible meditation, aerobics, a self-defense course, and even a day to learn how to belly-dance.
Oct. 24, 2012 at 12:30 p.m.,WOM is having a meeting in the Women’s Center on the second floor of the Student Center. All women are encouraged to attend this meeting and to bring their own lunch. The purpose of this meeting is to bring in new members and to let them know what Women on the Move is all about.
“If you are a woman looking to create lifetime friendships, looking for support and wanting to be involved in creating and shaping a club for women, then you should check out Women on the Move,” concluded Amy Nemitz.
